Q: Should my HID lights hang vertical or horizontal for maximum penetration?
A: Studies have shown that a horizontal positioned bulb and reflector unit will provide superior light penetration to a garden compared to vertical orientation. However, both styles are acceptable for cultivation.
Q: My bulb, ballast and reflector combination is not working. How can I fix this?
A: The problem might be a bad connection in the mogul socket. Make sure to disconnect the unit from the power supply, and then look inside the mogul socket for a metal tab. Pry this tab upwards a little bit to make better contact with the bulb base.
Q: What is the importance of color temperature ratings (Kelvin) on bulbs? i.e(3K, 6.4K, etc.)
A: Kelvin is a unit of measure that rates color temperature of a light source. Lower Kelvin temperatures will display deeper hues of red and orange light. Higher Kelvin temperatures emit deeper concentrations of blue light. The difference of each stimulates growth in plants depending on the phase of production. Ex. use lower K for fruiting/blooming/flowering and higher K for leaf/chlorophyll production.
Q: How often should I replace my grow bulbs?
A: Whether fluorescent, sodium, or halide, we recommend to replace light system bulbs every 1 to 1.5 years if ran for a minimum of 12 hours per day. Although they may still ignite for multiple years, quality of light to the plants has degraded after this time of continuous use.
Q: My new bulb isn\'t lighting up, or only lights up sometimes. How can I fix this problem?

Q: Will my dual voltage 120/240V ballast operate on 208V or 277V?
A: Our Xtrasun and SG Lite magnetic ballasts currently only have 120V & 240V capability. Our Powerhouse ballasts are wired for 120V and 240V, but have the capability to be rewired to 208V or 277V. If you already have a Hydrofarm ballast, consult a certified electrician to rewire this for you. For warranty coverage, ballasts with these voltages will need to be special ordered.

This Grow Light Kit includes everything you need to get started. The Xtrasun Wing Reflector is super lightweight and made of high-performance European aluminum that provides wide and bright light delivery to your plants. It includes a built-in cord set and is CSA certified.
The Grow Light Kit also includes the SG Lite Ballast, which is light on price but heavy on features. Experience the power of a ballast straight out of Hydrofarm’s value line. This ballast is built to last with a patented design that allows electrical contact to happen only when a seal is achieved. The SG Lite ballast offers a compact design, to save space in the grow room, and a water-resistant seal to protect against misting and sprays. All SG Lite ballasts also feature the patented Lock & Seal plug system, with recessed contacts to ensure safety during plug-in; a unique, circular prong pattern for secure electrical contact; and a collar that protects against accidental electrical contact. The SG Lite is 120V/240V capable (power cord included) and is also CSA certified.
The Xtrasun High Pressure Sodium (HPS) lamps provide long-lasting, reliable operation throughout the grow cycle. Specifically engineered for horticultural use with magnetic and electronic ballasts, the rated 2000° Kelvin temperature* distributes intense light for flowering and full cycle plant growth.
The final piece of the Grow Light Kit is the Light Riser Hanging System which makes hanging reflectors, filters or other equipment a snap. Simply secure one of the quick release carabiner clips to a firm location, attach the other clip to the object you want to hang, and then pull the cord until the desired height is reached.
