Q: What do you recommend using as the grow medium for planting?

R: I like using rockwool, but you could also use peat moss plugs or any other fibrous growing medium. As long as it is firm enough to hold its shape in the water.

Q: Is it possible to upgrade my tower later on by adding modules or lights?

R: Yes! If you purchased a small tower you can add extra modules very easily. Same for the light kits.

Q: How much power does the tower consume?

R: With an average price per kWh of 15 cents in North America, you can expect the large tower to cost approximately 3 cents per day, or $11 per year when properly regulated with a hydroponic timer.

Q: What seeds can I use with this system?

R: Any seeds can be used with this system. I would recommend starting with leafy greens, fine herbs, and other compact varieties of fruits/vegetables. Strawberries are a personal favorite :)

Q: Where can I find hydroponic nutrients?

R: Hydroponic nutrients are very easy to find. Look on amazon, hydroponic websites, or your local gardening supply store!

Q: Can I use my tower outside?

R: Yes! The materialused for this tower is 100% outdoor safe and I actually recommend growing outdoors whenever possible.

Q: Can I use the light kit outside?

R: No, I do not recommend using the light kit outdoors. While it is unlikely that you would ever need a light kit outdoors anyway with all that wonderful sunlight, the plastic used on the light kits is different from the tower itself and is not suitable for outdoor use.
